Sorell breakfast
The perfect start to an adventurous dayEnjoy a proper breakfast
In the morning, we serve traditional Swiss breakfast favourites with homemade treats and specialities. Our extensive buffet breakfast features local produce wherever possible, with coffee sourced from a Swiss speciality roastery, cheese from a family-run farm and bread from the local bakery. If you have special dietary requirements, our kitchens are happy to serve gluten-free and other alternatives. We are passionate about using seasonal produce, we don't like food waste and we only ever buy IP-Suisse-certified meat and Swiss free-range eggs. Let Sorell take care of your perfect start to an exciting day.
Local fresh produce
Switzerland offers a rich variety of high-quality ingredients and traditional specialities. Wherever possible, we focus on regional and local produce and work with selected partners from the area.
From the first cappuccino of the day to a mid-shopping latte or an espresso after dinner, we only serve Fairtrade coffee. Choosing Fairtrade promotes small-scale farmers and workers and sustainably helps improve their living conditions. Our hotels in the Zurich area source their perfectly roasted coffee beans from Swiss speciality roastery and local legend, Stoll. In the Bern region, roastery Blaser supplies us with nothing but the finest coffee beans.
What would a Swiss breakfast be without Butterzopf braided bread and Gipfeli croissants? We always try to source our breakfast treats from the local area, including vegan and gluten-free options. Zurich's Jung bakery is well-known throughout the city, especially for its tasty loaves. Made of the finest IP-Suisse-certified and organic ingredients, Jung bread rests in the warm bakery for over 48 hours. Our kitchens in Bern, Schaffhausen, Rapperswil and St. Gallen also work with various local bakeries.
Cheese has a long and cultivated tradition in Switzerland. That's why the cheese served at a Sorell breakfast comes only from our most trusted suppliers. Various local partners deliver a varied selection for all our hotels. Selected specialities are also sourced from the Swiss family-run cheese maker, Jumi, using only the finest ingredients and traditional production methods. The milk used in Jumi's raw milk cheese comes straight from the surrounding farms.
The butter included in a Sorell breakfast is made exclusively from Swiss cow's milk. Many hotels also insist on Sennerei butter, traditionally made from haymilk from biodynamic farms. This goes beautifully with our Swiss honey, which we source from our regional beekeepers.
Homemade treats and specialities
The Swiss love a hearty breakfast. And we make sure that your day starts with just that, with our homemade delicacies and selected favourite classics served at the Sorell breakfast buffet.
Our jam is specially made for us. The recipe comes from Swiss star chef Vreni Giger and makes a real experience out of this breakfast classic.
The beloved Bircher muesli has a long tradition in Switzerland. Made from yoghurt, fresh fruit, nuts and cereals, every Swiss family has its own secret recipe for it. In our hotels, it is homemade with just as much love. If you want to try it yourself, you will find a rich selection of cereals, fresh fruit and dairy products as well as alternatives on our breakfast buffet.
Made from world-famous Swiss chocolate and hazelnuts, the crème noisette brings a piece of Swiss history to our Sorell breakfast buffet. Lindt Master Chocolatiers have been producing the finest chocolate in their traditional Zurich kitchens since 1845. Lindt is also committed to sustainability with its Farming Programme and supports cocoa farmers around the world.

Careful sourcing
Eggs come exclusively from Switzerland and from certified free-range farming. We only buy IP-Suisse-certified meat and meat products from Switzerland and selected partners. Our fish comes exclusively from sustainable fishing according to WWF guides, with some of our hotels serving Swiss salmon. What's more, we never order flown-in fruit and vegetables and always favour seasonal selections.
Commitment against food waste
To reduce food waste, instead of adding our meat and fish selection to the buffet, we make our IP Suisse-quality specialities freshly to order.
